We won MTV Euro awards for best Portuguese act and wish to dedicate it to all people around the world who voted for us and helped Moonspell to become a stronger band and Portuguese Metal more known to the abroad scene! Thank you a million moons!!!

Queríamos agradecer e dedicar este prémio e invulgar reconhecimento a todos quantos acreditaram (ou não, eu também tinha dúvidas!) e dispensaram o seu precioso tempo a votar online. Este prémio é importante para todos nós enquanto prova da nossa visibilidade, importância e capacidade de mobilização. O maior reconhecimento que temos é, sem dúvida, a vossa participação no nosso mundo e na nossa criatividade sem compromissos. Mas não queremos menosprezar este acontecimento pois toda a ajuda em Portugal é pouca para que o Metal seja visto com a seriedade que merece. E, nesse sentido, talvez este seja um dos momentos mais decisivos da nossa carreira, juntamente com outros que nos deixam saudades como o concerto no Convento do Beato ou a entrada do Sin nos tops nacionais. Estamos neste momento em Seattle e conseguimos sentir toda a vossa força e contentamento aí na nossa amada e nunca, mas nunca esquecida terra, PORTUGAL! Todas as noites, apesar das dificuldades, tentamos honrar-vos com bons espetáculos e aproveitamos o vosso apoio presente embora longínquo para nos inspirarmos e fazer melhor.

MTV European Music Awards

Ontem foi a entrega dos prémios MTV. Melhor banda, melhor música, etc etc, em diversas categorias. A inutilidade habitual. No entanto, a surpresa para mim foi na entrega do prémio para "Best Portuguese Act", que foi atribuído aos metaleiros tugas MOONSPELL. Mesmo sabendo que o reconhecimento da MTV não é propriamente importante para o estilo de música em que habitualmente me insiro, não deixa de ser um prémio que tem tanto de meritório como de inesperado. Afinal de contas, só temos uma banda cá pelo burgo mais reconhecida internacionalmente do que os Moonspell, e sendo ela Madredeus, não dá sequer para confundir estilos. Sendo Moonspell metal, e do bom (sem cedencias a nivel artístico para criar um produto mais facilmente difundivel pelas rádios), este género de prémios generalistas é sempre muito raro (Apesar de este ano o Eurovisão tambem ter tido a sua surpresa com os Lordi, que sendo bastante mais melódico, não deixa de ter o seu peso). Os Moonspell tiveram ainda o feito de uma entrada directa para número 1 do topo de vendas nacional, feito metaleiro apenas alcançado antes pelos Metallica. Por outro lado, e aqui é o meu mau feitio a vir ao de cima...claro que Moonspell ganharam! Afinal de contas, a concorrencia eram os tótós Mind da Gap, Expensive Soul, Boss Ac e David Fonseca. O: )
Em declarações à MTV Portugal, a banda admite que este prémio é um reconhecimento não só para os Moonspell, mas também para todas as bandas que têm trabalhado no heavy metal em Portugal.
"O heavy metal finalmente pode tornar-se um estilo mais forte, um estilo agraciado e um estilo digno em Portugal", afirma a banda, dedicando o prémio aos portugueses "que ouvem e vivem o heavy metal".

Seja como for, parabéns aos Moonspell, keep up the good work, e espero que regressem em breve da tournée nos USA, para concertos cá no nosso canto do mundo... pela minha parte, tenciono lá estar (novamente). \m/

queremos de volta o gimli que fala de futebol, ->bandas que não lembram a ninguem<- e outros assuntos na mesma linha!


Quanto ao não lembrar a ninguem, duvido que seja o caso, dado que o concerto estava cheio (e eu estava lá tambem), mas apresento-vos então algo mais duro para o vosso ouvido, caros leitores. Os portugueses Bizarra Locomotiva. Sem os conhecer de lado nenhum, e apenas porque tinha ouvido falar bem deles, fui no inicio deste verão vê-los a Lisboa, ao SuperBock SuperRock. E o concerto foi tão fabulosamente fantástico (entre outros adjectivos igualmente grandiosos, mas não quero exagerar ;) ), que desde essa altura já voltei a assistir a novo concerto deles no Hard Club e voltei a ficar igualmente impressionado (pudera... o concerto foi basicamente igual). Deste último concerto no Hard Club guardo tambem a memória do povo mais jovem, de roupas largas e bonés para o lado, com ar muito impressionado durante o concerto na onda de "que raio é isto??", encostados a um canto, enfadados. Será que foram ver os estranhos HED(PE), banda cabeça de cartaz, e que eu evitei ouvir vindo embora antes que começassem a tocar, evitando assim danos profundos às minhas cavidades auriculares? ;) Definitivamente, misturar hip-hop, rap, ou seja o que aquilo é, com Metal... é estragar Metal O: )

Mais um Euro

Como se não bastasse a nossa mesa apenas ter sido atendida quando isqueiros se acenderam com ar ameaçador... e não satisfeita por oferecer a prima jasmim para fazer chá e entornar sumo de uma forma tão discreta como um metaleiro num concerto do Toy, ainda levamos com um "só mais um euro" para completar o ramalhete! Pois aparentemente o FECAL serviço não estaria completo se não pedisse 'esmola' ao grupo com ar mais tótó disponível. "Mais um Euro", era o valor em falta para completar o objectivo monetário da noite e ganhar um prémio. E não é que a malta ainda dividiu uma coca-cola extra só pra lhe fazer a vontade? Que fique registado, que *nós* somos NÉSCIOS ;) Aliás, no fim, ainda queria à viva força que eu pagasse a conta a toda a gente... cheguei a temer pela integridade física das minhas orelhas (é preciso que se diga que estou débil e fragil numa luta titânica contra a febre e contra a malta que me quer obrigar a visitar um médico :) ). Alessandro Nannini do Saldanha Residence, que fique registado: para mim, é OFF-LIMITS!

Therion goes Classic

Conforme muitos de voces sabem, os Therion são apenas a minha banda preferida, e apenas tive oportunidade de os ver ao vivo uma vez. Continuo a considerar, independentemente da parcialidade inerente à primeira afirmação, que foi o melhor concerto a que assisti. E no entanto, sabendo que eles são uma mistura de música clássica com metal, obviamente que para os concertos ao vivo toda a parte clássica é pré-gravada e apenas o resto dos instrumentos está em palco. No entanto, para um evento único e para beneficiencia, irão dar um concerto dia 9 de Dezembro em Bucareste, com um coro de 70 elementos e uma orquestra de 100 membros. Como seria de esperar, ando actualmente com uma babete e muitos lenços de papel comigo porque não consigo parar de babar. ;) Alguem quer fazer uma excursão à Roménia dia 9 de Dezembro? :D Aqui fica a notícia integral conforme está no site deles. :)

Therion Goes Classic - At the Palace Hall/Bucharest/Romania, on December 9th, Therion plays with full symphonic orchestra, choir and international opera stars.

The band will go on stage with nearly 70 musicians of the Academic Radio Choir, 100 instrumentists of the Romanian Radio Orchestra and guest classical singers from Vienna, awarded as best opera-voices world-wide.

Markus Stollenwerk, who joined the famous German band Rage for their “Lingua Mortis” album will be the conductor of this world-premiere event.

The repertoire includes famous classical pieces in Therion’s version, as well as Therion songs with symphonic orchestra, some of them never played live before.

The project is done with kind support of the Swedish Embassy in Romania.

“Therion Goes Classic” concert is part of a project called “Ars musicae, ars medicinae – music against cancer” developed by Aquarius Foundation/Romania; all thanks for the initiative go to Therion. Funds raised following the concert are aimed to the treatment of children with cancer in Romania in 2007. Organisers also thank Wolfgang Milchrahm/Austria for his support.

Sad but True

Há dois anos fui até ao Rock in Rio, em Lisboa. É certo que apenas fui porque arranjei um convite, porque apenas Moonspell me puxavam a sério, e sendo eles os primeiros a actuar, não se esperava uma actuação muito longa. De Metallica sempre gostei muito, mas os trabalhos mais actuais deles apenas me impressionaram... pela negativa. Cheguei a dizer que só via Metallica caso eles assinassem um termo de responsabilidade em como não tocavam nada dos ultimos 3 albuns. :) Curiosamente, o concerto foi memoravel... não só pela LONGA duração que teve, como pela participação do público, fantástica, e pelo BELO facto de eles nao terem mesmo tocado quase nada dos ultimos 3 trabalhos :) Em todo o caso, dois momentos que me impressionaram foram a música Nothing Else Matters (nós os metaleiros somos todos uns derretidos e cantamos todos), e esta música que aqui vou colocar, Sad but True, pelo simples facto de ser a minha preferida. E é tão arrepiante ver 50000 almas a cantar em uníssono. Uma destas vozes é MINHA! Aqui vos deixo... Sad But True!

E no entanto, esta NÃO é uma delas :) Como raio vou filtrar 6 informações sobre mim no meio de tanta inutilidade? :) Em todo o caso, ninguem disse que tinham que ser revelações surpreendentes, dignas da primeira página de uma qualquer revista cor-de-rosa, e como tal os meus fieis leitores em principio já terão conhecimento das mesmas.
